What type grease can I use?
« on: November 24, 2014, 03:01:43 PM »
I am in the process of building a 71 cb500 and am cleaning up the wheels. Got the brakes, sprocket, speedometer pickup, and axles off. Gonna cleanup the axle areas and would like to regrease everything prior to reinstall. I have some general use grease that states its "moly fortified ford lincoln mercury gen purpose grease" and i also have "green grease". Is it ok to use any one of these or should i get something else? Also can I use any of those for the rear swingarm bolt?
Thanks

Waterproof grease is different to normal grease, its usually called "marine grease" here in Aus, I use it on my boat trailer bearings {amongst other things} and it lasts longer with exposure to water than normal grease.... ;)

Yes you can use them, go for it. You have dust shields on critical areas anyway, regular grease is enough. Use the higher temp of the two. I usually just use wheel bearing grease for everything ;D
