RC ENGINEERING GORILLA BLOCK

I'm rebuilding the engine on my 1972 CB750 and I have an RC Engineering "Gorilla Block" that has never been used.  The bike will be for street use and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good or bad) with using that block on a street bike? I will put a big bore kit - probably around 1000cc.    I've been told there may be some cooling issues.  Your thoughts?

Don't think they can be run on the street, no cooling fins.

Is it bored for 1000? Might be fairly good then. A lot were 1080. A bit hotter. You will want to avoid midday lite to lite rides and stop and go traffic. Get a big oil cooler..

I asked the same thing about my block.  RCjr said they did run some on the street but ran oil coolers good oil good jetting spot on ignition timing etc.  He also said they didn't worry much about hurting stuff back then because they had a good supply of parts.  I decided against running it because of my concern about it getting too hot.  Like 754 said big oil cooler a must, also make sure your timing and jetting are correct.  Wouldn't think you would want to run very high compression either if it is a street bike.  I wouldn't run it on the street.  On the up side you could sell it and get a good chunk of money for it, they seem to go really high when they are for sale.

Sure you can run it on the street (or I could if you don't want to). Just depends on how well you set it up and how you will use it. Everyday street bike, probably not. Stealth racer, hell yeah. Make them think about it  ;D ;)
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
