Carb/throttle linkage question
« on: February 09, 2015, 06:01:26 PM »
Bike is a 77 750K. I pulled the carbs for a cleanup and reinstalled tonight. I did not reconnect the throttle linkage before seating the carbs and now cannot get the pull cable back in it's seat. Do the cables need to be connected before the carbs are set? Thanks.

The cable should have actual free length, don't put the cable in to position on the rack. How easy did it come off?

You can also slack it as much as possible at the handlebars to help

Loosen the adjusters as much as possible at the carb end and the bar end of the cable.

No need to loosen the cables at the bars.  Just undo the mount screws at the carb ends.
Seat the carbs.  Be sure they are pushed on all the way.
Wrap the pull cable in its groove under the bell and secure its end in the slot.
Seat the pull cable into its holder and secure the screws.
Put the ball end of the push cable into its groove on the top of the bell, then push the end of its cable into its holder, and secure the screws.

Thanks - got everything reconnected last night. Trying for her first start after 8 year storage this weekend.
