Max 4 into 1 Exhaust question
« on: February 18, 2015, 05:01:17 AM »
I installed my mac 4 into 1 on my 74 CB750 last night and have a question on it. From the side of the bike it looks like it is hanging too low. Is this where it is supposed to be or should it be closer to under the passenger foot peg? It hasn't been fully tightened yet. Is the height adjustment with the rear bracket sliding backwards? Also how tight should the header bolts be? One last question, should the exhaust bracket that attaches to the passenger peg be between the foot peg and frame or should it be on the backside of the frame so its between the frame and nut?

Twist the muffler in the collector so that it points more "up".

Rotate the silencer clockwise. This will bring it closer to the wheel and as Scott says make it point more upwards.

Header bolts need to be tight enough to crush copper rings to seal well.  I typically tighten them down some and come back after few hundred miles and make sure there is no leak.

Ok thanks for the input. Should the bracket be on the inside or outside of the footpeg mount?

+1 on rotating the muffler, should give it more of an upward angle.  Probably the limiting factor will be rotating it far enough to point upward, but not so far that the mounting point on the muffler body is out of alignment with the upper mounting point.

Never realized how fugly that stock rear tail light assembly is.  Man, that's gotta go!
