motorcycle manufacturer reliability via CR

saw this on another forum I frequent.  Surprised Honda is not #1, my conclusion is the  more one spends does not necessarily  equate to reliability....Larry

I would love to know what constitutes a failure rate.  If it's a single component on the bike needing repair - I can believe the BMW rating.  I know from my own experience that they are absolutely loaded with features and creature comforts.  Sooner or later one will fail.

If that survey is representative, all I think it demonstrates is that more complicated designs have more chances of breaking down.  That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

CR usually bases the results on frequency of repair and cost to own.  Higher end Japanese bikes have most all the accoutrements the Euro bikes have but I did not see the article only the result  so I have no idea what the conclusions are based on.

I'm surprised that HD is way above BMW. Of course the top 4 are the Big 4 japanese bike companies.

Larry, 11% and 12% is  up there together, it can be a function of the sample; I would not hold it against Honda :)

probably has something to do with BMW high parts prices and gotta give Harley credit-the new models are pretty darn reliable, at least people I know who have one say
