Broken Camera.. help
« on: October 16, 2006, 12:32:18 PM »
Does anyone know much about digital cameras?  I was trying to take some pictures and everything appeared to be working fine, but then when I try to look at them it says 'file error'

When you say look at them, do you mean on the camera display while the mem card is still in the camera, or after you have transferred the pics to a folder on your PC?

If you have another memory card, you could try taking some pictures with that and see if you have the same problem. If so, then it's the camera...if not it's the card. Man, that's a bummer though...

You might try removing, then reseating the card. Don't forget to shut the camera off first though. Taking the card out with the camera on may corrupt files.
If the card isn't seated properly, the camera can't process it properly, kind of like a loose wire.

Sometimes a card can become corrupted if you do certain things while it is still processing/saving an image, such as shut it off, etc. You can also try reformatting the existing mem card and see what happens. Let us know.

I just bought a new camera and I had to clean the contacts on the SD card to make it work.

I know we can do so much more with the stuff today but I must have wound 200 rolls of film through my old Browning when I was a kid and it worked everytime.  I bought my first Nikon in 76 paid 400 bucks and it worked through no less than 400 rolls before I droped it and it bent do to the long zoom.  It took me 2 weeks just to look for the right digital and when I got it, it was so light and made of plastic that I am amazed it works every time I use it.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I would recomend re-formating the card too, however if there are any files on it that are good GET THEM OFF before reformatting or they will be gone forever into the abyss
