NOCO Genius Battery Charger/Maint.
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:35:02 AM »
For under $40 (Amazon) I picked up one of these, and its battery attachment/meter.  I'll keep you posted on its ease/effectiveness.

the unit comes with well insulated clips, and a set of batter leads to leave attached to your bike, as shown in the top picture.  I opted for the addition of the LED indicator leads as I wanted to be able to visually see if my battery needed any charge during and after a ride.
Super simple to connect to the wall unit.

Two minute hookup once I found a spot for it.
Indicator light blinks for 100%(top), 75%, 50% and 25%

Putting it to the test on this 3year old battery....

EDIT:  Sure enough, this morning, the lights flashing were indicating the old battery is beyond revival.  Metered charge was only 6.63v

I have the G3500 model, and the results were the same when I tried to revive a battery that hadn't been used in 5 years. I wonder if it is better at keeping batteries healthy than healing the sick.

While doing some electrical testing on my K8, I routinely drain the battery.

The G750 quicly brings it back to 12.85-12.87.

I have the G1100, can do 6V, 12V, AGM (or cold temp) and conventional batteries. I love it. My battery currently sets all lights flashing after a long period of being in maintenance mode... I think I need to descale it (that is what the manual suggests).

I like that little pigtail charge indicator, though. Pretty fancy. I just have the standard pigtail on mine that can connect to the charger. I usually just pop the seat up and attach the clips.

Yes, i'm really liking this unit.
Just this am, I connected the included leads and charger to my Volvo, which sat most of the winter.
Should be good to go after work :)

I got el cheapo Ch/M from TSC years ago.  Came with the pigtail too and for the pigtail I found a connector - they call it SAE to USB - that goes from the pigtal to the tank bag to charge  cell phone or what needs charging while on the road.

Awesome.  NOCO has a proprietary male/female plug for all their adapters. I emailed them and said i wouldnt charge them for the idea of a 4' NOCO male plug to USB, but that I would like a free one to test  ;D  :P
