1970 CB750 K: No valve seals on exhaust valves guides?
« on: July 10, 2015, 09:26:30 AM »
I'm re-doing the head on my '70 CB750K, and noticed that there are no valve seals on the exhaust valves guides, and the guides are different than the intakes: exhaust guides come to a taper, and not "squard off" and relieved to accept the seal. Original shop manual shows 8 seals being needed, but due to the taper on the exhaust guide, how does the seal stay in place? Am I correct in assuming that the exhaust guides do not need a seal?

Correct, the early engines didn't have them on the exhausts. You can replace the guides with new ones that accept seals.
