New Vin Tags
« on: August 12, 2015, 07:33:56 AM »
This company is making new vin tags for your restoration or custom projects. They will engrave them for you with your engine and frame serial numbers too if you like. They are also doing frame tags from custom manufacturers such as Amen, Santee, and supposedly soon AEE. I know they have been mentioned here and there in various threads, but I figured I would give them their own thread.

I used one of there honda cb750 usa tags. It came quickly VIN was engraved nicely. The holes limes up and it installed great.
Two side notes:
-the engraving does not match the original pressed from behind lettering. If your doing a concours type resto this may be an issue.
- I made a little tool to do the rivets. Its basically a 1/4 rod that I spun in a drill and used a dremel to put a concave in the face

Good info! Thanks... At first I thought maybe using a set of mini punch stamps from behind would work, but then I realized all the letters and numbers would be backwards on the front side. Anybody have any ideas?

Yes, the engraving does not match the factory stamping -- Honda had a particular font it used that has distinct characters.  This tag will pass a cursory glance.  I'm not sure how legal it is, but if you've lost the original and want it on the bike, it's the next best thing.

I'm sure it's perfectly legal as long as the vin matches the stamped vin on the other side of the neck. Besides, I don't think this tag is a legal identification anyways. I think the purpose is more for informative reasons, for a mechanic, for instance.
