1981 CB650 Standard vs. Custom wheels

As part of the ongoing rebuild, we're thinking of swapping out the (severely rusted) spoke wheels for the Comstar wheels but have a few questions:

1) Can you use the Standard parts on the Comstar wheels, for example:  Rotor, sprocket, speedo gear drive housing, rear brake drum housing, rear wheel dampers?
2) The manual indicates there is a front wheel hub cover (single disk brake) but the wheels that I'm able to find out there don't seem include one.  Is this critical?
3)  Any other concerns that I should have with doing this swap?

I have a clymer  79 to 82 650 four's  it looks like the  the single disk is the same on both wheels (spoke or comstar)

Thanks for the image.  I looked at the manual and noticed that too, but it doesn't specify whether a different rotor, chain, brake drum hub, sprocket, etc. is needed.  All of those things on my Standard are fine so I hope to re-use them.

I believe in 81 the CB650 switched to a leading axle... I have a 1980 Standard and a 1980 Custom, and they both have the front axle attached under the fork. I don't know if the 79-80 and 81-82 axles are the same, so if you're switching rims from different years, make sure the axles play well with your fork/swingarm. As far as I know the other parts are plug-and-play. If you happen to have a parts manual or fiche, maybe compare part numbers?

if you switch out to comstars I'd have interest in the hub from the spoke wheel if you want to cut all the spokes and sell just the hub....

only the 81 custom and 82 nitehawk got the leading axle.  And wider triple trees for the dual disks.   It should all bolt into a standard no problem.

Ahhh ... that's right!  The hub has the holes for the spokes so maybe I'll need a new hub for the Comstar wheel?!  If I do, you can have the Standard hub. I'll send you pics and we can discuss shipping once I know for certain.

I'm trying to get rims from the same year: 1981, to help ensure fitment.   Thanks for those details, though.  The more info/suggestions, the better.

The Comstar is all one integrated piece -- hub, 5-spokes and rim.
