750A engine on a 550 frame? Is it possible?
« on: August 29, 2015, 04:11:53 PM »
I'm new to Honda motorcycles and i'm interested in building a cb550 I inherited from a family member. I want to replace the stock (and seized) engine with a 750A hondamatic engine. I found a complete running 750A bike on craigslist for under $500. I feel like this would be a good investment because I can use more than just the engine from the potential donor-bike. Please let me know if the 750A engine would fit on the 550 frame without too much major modification. Also, what kind of modifications am I looking at if this swap is possible? Thanks in advance :D

I would turn that $500 auto into a wild cafe or bober.  Check out some of the youtube.com videos for hondamatic cafe

No oil tank.  Instant open triangle.  These bikes would be wildly popular with people in the city if they knew how much of a joy they are to drive in traffic.

Heck mount a big oil cooler and fan and beat you could idle all day long.
