Well, it's going slowly. The machinist friend's shop is down for a while so I had to hire it done elsewhere and get "worked in". I'll put all of this into a more organized fashion later once I'm done bolting it back in so I can show the "after" shots. Once the tank is on, I'm counting on it being absolutely invisible. The machinist and frame welder helping me with the fabrication say it's much stronger than the stock, light weight tubes were. This mod adds 2.8 pounds to the frame. The machined pieces are made from cold-rolled solid steel. The bolts are all grade 8 hardware and the ends are precision fits as the photos show. The fronts screw into the inserts so access is not blocked and can be removed once the "jam" nut is lossened. There are a total of 8 pieces of fabrication. The Eastwood epoxy Extreme Chassis Black is nice paint. It worked well over the scuffed up powdercoat. I did not try to remove the powder, only scuffed it with 240 grit and 3 heavy coats of epoxy. It won't rust and the gloss turned out nice. All pieces are welded in and now permanent. The removable section was powdercoated - leaving the machined edges bare so as not to interfere with the fit. We made one little goof - the tubes to the rear on the removable piece should have been left 1/4" longer. We cut the wrong side of the line.

Remember that saying - measure twice, cut once?  :-[

Anyway, I'm very happy it's done. I should have no more leaks and 'if" I decide to do more head work, change cams, or even remove the cases to install those Carillos - I can do so without the pain of clearing the frame.

Regards,
Gordon

I agree. Looks great. Just like Honda Should have done. I have a small leak in the right front corner of head gasket. Just enough to see a tiny little bit of engine juice seepin' out. I really don't feel like pulling the whole engine just to fix it.

Well done.  My bike has a similar set-up, but it isn't as clean looking.

The pic below (a bad angle) shows how it looked before it was painted.

Guys, I bolted her in this evening and will install the tank and seat tomorrow after checking the wiring hook-ups (installed a NOS ignition set and a NOS right handlebar switch while she was down) and priming the cam and valve train after the re-assembly and fixing that pesty leak. It went back real sweet. The small button bolts went at 25 foot pounds while the large front jam nuts went to 60 foot pounds - she ain't going anywhere. I'm 100% sure I'd do it again. Being able to work on the bike in-frame is the way it should be.

Now, I don't have a 750SOHC but, if I did (or ever do) that sure looks like the way to go.
Great job! Well planned & executed! Ever think about putting it in the Tips & Tricks?
