Hello,
Not sure how many are here from Kansas, but I see no one has listed an entry for Kansas, so here goes.

I live in Topeka.
Any others,

Hey guys,  I grew up in a small town north of Manhattan.  If we ever wanted to do something that was where we went.  Now I'm in the KC area.  I'm not ready for this winter.  To many parts to still to get :)

Hey Guys,
I grew up in  Oakley ( western Kansas ) and now live in Victoria ( small town east of Hays ) I think pinhead lives in the KC area also. I've got my 78 cb750f down to the bare frame but have everything painted and am beginning to reassemble. Should have it done for the first blizzard!!!!!
The thing about common sense is that, it's not that common.

Hello Hocker,
Been through Oakley a couple of times going to see my sis in Colorado. If I remember correctly this is where we pull off to eat. Don't they have road gates on I70 there to shut down the Highway during the "blizzards"?
Good Luck on your project.

Yeah, they shut down the interstate so you have to take the back roads during blizzards. They only close the interstate to keep the Colorado drivers off the road :D. I found out that pinheads uncle lives 3 blocks away from me in a town of 500. And I worked with one of his great uncles at the Chevy dealership I work at and another one of his great uncles was the priest in Oakley when I was growing up! This site is truly amazing with info!!!!

Its' one of those towns that when give directions there "Go about 10 miles north of town and then turn left at the big oak tree."  The town is called Olsburg, it's about 7 miles east of the north end of the lake.

I have a '76 750SS.  Like all CB's it's a work in progress.  Right now I'm working on the carbs, had to buy a spare set because the lifter arm was broken on mine.  I just picked up a 900 head that I'm going to try and do a poor mans version of a 836.  In my little buying I some how lucked out and picked up a '76 head for dirt cheap.  I've got to run up to my uncles house sometime and put it on the flow bench to see what I can come up with.  I'm waiting on some super bike bars and I already have a spare gas tank.  With just buying a house, a baby due in January, I've got a busy winter, which hopefully makes it go fast.  Because I'm not ready to stop riding.

The better half has a '06 883 Sportster that we did the conversion on.  And last week a '83 GS550 showed up.  I'm hoping to unload the GS and then buy something else to fix up.

Dang, sounds like you have a full plate.
Did you do the conversion yourself? I had an 01 883, used wiesco to do the conversion. Luckly though bro in law was HD mechanic (in Topeka, than Pueblo, CO) so he did the work. He also changed front sprocket
It was a pretty quick little bike, kinda miss it.

Got to love having a full plate, because I'm always hungry :)

She bought the bike and then complained that it didn't run or sound like a Harley.  So I had her buy the kit.  At first we thought about trying to get someone to do it, but then we decided that after watching biker build off, that building a harley isn't that hard, anyone can do it.  I already have engine building experience, and it was nice and easy.  The only complain I had about the kit, was that the jugs weren't honned when we got them.  I stayed up all night putting it together and woke her up in the morning w/a  loud rumbling.  After that night, I actually have respect for harleys, because I have no freaking clue how they got those engines to run.

What part of Topeka? Ever ride up to Slow ride in Lawrance?  I think that's the name of the bar, right off 24, north of interstate.

Lived most of my life in Highland Park area, now live North Side, about 2 blocks from 24.
I  have never been to Slow Ride myself, my brother said not to bad of a place, though. Fairly new place I think, about a year. Ever been there?
Ever been to KICKSTART Saloon, in Topeka, oh yeah off of Highway 24?

My parents grew up in Highland Park, and I'm always taking 24 to head back west.  I've only been there twice, once when I was coming back from Topeka on my initial outting on my CB, and then one day we just decided to go and ended up there.

Kickstart?  Is that by the bowling alley?

Yeah Kickstart is off 24 and Kansas Ave, not far from a bowling alley. It is your typical "biker" bar, but not a bad place though, looks roughier than it is.

Did your parents graduate from HP High? I did in 78. Lived in that area most of my life.

Next time I'm back in that area during the riding time, I'll check it out.

Yes, they graduated from there in '65 or something like that.  I drag race out at HPT w/ my cousin and uncle.  My uncle has a 65 Falcon, my cousin has a '64 Falcon, and I have a '56 Victoria.  My cousin works at Orielys down south, and my uncle is at Advance south of the capital.

They only close the interstate to keep the Colorado drivers off the road :D.

growing up in kansas then living here for the past 8 years i've discovered that colorado drivers actually know what they're doing when it comes to snow and it's the kansans and other flatlanders that tie up all the twisty roads around here.

or we could put it another way... it's all the FRIGGIN SOCCERMOMS THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE THERE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SUV'S!

76 550 in avatar.
Beginning (well near the beginning pics) http://new.photos.yahoo.com/hondachop_project/album/576460762319930769
Have it near completion.

I have another hardtail frame, would not mind starting another project, or find a restorer, BUT at this time I need to finish this one, before I can talk the wife into letting me start another.

Hey guys, I have a 75 CB550 and live in olathe kansas(pretty much kansas city). Bike is currently not running since I have a carb down but I do have a couple rebuild kits so hopefully by the end of the month she will be popping down the street. As my handle indicates I am into the Café look and hope to have my bike moving towards that direction by june.

Just thought I would introduce myself to some individuals somewhat close to me...
