Topic: After market CB750 pipes, worth it?

Greetings, I have a really nice 73 CB750 and would really like to get these pipes. They are available for about 1400 bucks, only gave a grand for the low mileage bike. A few sellers on EBAY have them. Anyone know anyone who has purchased these?

I am certain that this is the OEM set-reproduced but OEM. $ 1400 is actual a good price for them. I have heard nothing but praise.

I bought a set, It would be a bold statement to say they are as good as originals but mine are very nice. The factory pipes rusted out quickly around here, I coated mine inside before I installed them and don't ride short trips when it's cold out to minimize condensation. There are some good 4-1 pipes around but if you need 4-4's these are the nuts.

I have the reproductions on my '72. Very nice and worth it to me. Almost 2000 more for OEM ones did not make sense to me.

Show me a set of OEM pipes for anywhere near $1400 new. NOS for $1400 are priced nicely in your mind but you ain't finding them in reality for that. Compared to NOS pricing , this set is reasonably priced if the quality is what others say they are.

Here are some OEM pipes, from the BEST guy to get Honda parts from on EBAY.... a bit pricey.   $3695.00

Those are for the 69-70 models, they have a set of the K3 up for $400 less with no dents.

Do the 2-2 pipes have baffles?  If yes, re-jetting prolly was not necessary.

I would suggest a good cleaning and confirm the proper size jets are installed. Unless you are the original owner, who know what was done?

And do not use the cheapass carb kits that are on the market! Genuine brass only...

Check DSS, they had some for $1095.    I purchased a set about 2-3 months ago.   They aren't from Honda, but look like they are.   Chrome and fit was good.  The only real noticeable difference was the EPA paragraph.  The originals did not have them.  The later Honda replacements did.   These have the same wording, just looks a little different.  Not seen when mounted.  I'd buy them again.

Looks like they are out of stock now.   I email DSS a few times since they are still on the website.   They are made somewhere overseas.  When DSS has a container coming to the states, then they'll just put them on the container to save shipping costs.    Worth a shot.

That's why I wrote OEM. OEM are not NOS but from the manufacturer who produced the original equipment for Honda, i.e., what would be NOS today.

That's why I find $ 1400 pricey since DSS sells them for $ 300 less. But that is just my opinion.

Ha ha, it's funny how things go around. Back in the day, the OEM pipes were absolute crap, if they lasted more than 2 or 3 years before they fell apart with rust you'd be doing well. Back then, you could buy a new RC 4 into 1 for $129, compared to $300 for 4 new Honda pipes, (a new K2 was only 1600 bucks back then) and most CB750 owners thought the RC pipes were better anyway.

If you want to preserve your new 4 into 4 pipes, run a cup full of two stroke oil with your gas when you fill up, for the first couple of fills, the two stroke oil mist will coat the internals of the mufflers, which will delay the rusting process. Have you ever seen an exhaust on a two stroke that rusted out?

I've got a nice set of HM341's hanging in my garage, along with several sets of absolutely rotten HM341's that I've collected over the years. Steve, you need HM300's for your K1. Cheers, Terry.

Those are the HM300 replicas with the removeable baffles.   That's why they are more expensive.  I had a set of those as well.   They sounded as good as the originals.

I bought Yamiya HM300 style when they have better flow then HM341 which is std for my bike, CB750 K6.
