With all due respect, mate, you don't seem to understand that we have a #$%*load of bible bangin' retards; we call them "the south".
I stand by what I said. The above is insulting to anyone from the South. It is hard to construe that the above refers only to evangelicals.
They vote because it's the christian thing to do, not because of a nuanced political belief.
The above is elitist. Apparently, you are the possessor of "nuanced political belief," which others lack. Your
nuanced belief better equips you to make voting decisions. Others, who are not thusly equipped, are less able make informed political choices.
Furthermore, people vote for a variety of reasons; however, voting a Christian conscience seems to be the only basis to which you object. Would you call devout Muslims "Koran thumpers?" (Note that Muslims are spreading their religion faster than Christians are in the US.) Do you object to the election of Keith Ellison to Congress? Do you find it offensive that his supporters shouted "Allah Akbar" during his celebration speech? Do you object to Northeastern and Northwestern union members who vote a straight union ticket? Do you object to pro choice activists who base nearly all of their voting decisions around a single moral viewpoint? How do you feel about closed union shops that use member dues for political purposes?
It's their way of getting back at us "Yankees" for winning the war and making them turn in their negros.
Even if we assume the above is an attempt at humor, your choice of (misspelled) epithet is offensive. It missed its mark if your intention was to mock Southerners.
We do vote, it's just that there isn't an I.Q. test before you get your ballot, though I doubt it would help.
P.S. No, I am not a genius. I was only able to score 146 on the test which places me somewhere in the gifted range.
I am guessing that the first statement above is an attempt at humor; nevertheless, you seem to place great store in standardized IQ. I measure intelligence primarily by what people do, secondarily by what they write and thirdly by what they say.
To all y'all Johnnie reb's out there that took offence, If'n yous' ain't a bible bangin' special folk, I WASN'T REFERRING TO YOU!
Are we to believe, from your mocking tone, that evangelicals are less intelligent than the general populace? Are they less intelligent because they do not agree with you? Most of our founding fathers were Christians, and some of those forbears most dear to us -- Washington, Jefferson, etc -- made public expressions of Christian faith. Were our "bible bangin'" forbears lacking in intelligence?
Why is it that anytime somebody takes a non p.c. stand on anything, wingnuts com out of the woodwork to defend the viewpoint of people they wouldn't spit on in normal everyday life.
You are actually correct here. I would not spit on these people. I would not spit on them because I am among them, I am related to them, and I spend time with them. Please do not insult my friends and family. None fit the stereotype you offer up.
I was talking about the holier than thou, morally superior types who pump millions into political campaigns to try to force their christian predisposition on everyone else.
Thus, is it perfectly acceptable for other groups in the country to pour millions into campaigns to force their beliefs on the country? Of the vast array of political motivations, evangelical Christians are to be singled out for their political action? It matters not that CAIR dumped large amounts of money into the previous election? There is irony in that you express feelings of your own superiority by claiming another group acts in a superior manner. You may choose to resort to the tactic of claiming that your statements of superiority are in fact true. In that case you would be no better than other prejudiced people who have gone before you.
And free speech is still guaranteed to all, even if some would have it otherwise.
I hope you are not arguing that the Constitution protects free speech in this forum because it does not. I cannot tell if you are joking here; however, speech in private forums is in not protected.
That's what I meant about looking to yourself before you stereotype and insult others -- regardless of your 146 IQ score.
