Man, KK, you're such a stickler! ;)  Actually, your question is fair and appreciated.

The data below is taken from a table published by adherents.com, an organization that publishes statistics about religion.  The author cites a CUNY study as the basis for this data.  Wikipedia also cites the CUNY study and displays the data in a slightly  different format

Note that most of the growth of Islam in the United States is due to immigration and birth rates; however, Muslims in the US do proselytize, an activity to which I, of course, have no objections.

Well I think you've got them Muslims pretty much outnumbered there BS, and of course I'd be shouted down if I said anything about the Jews, Israel being the 51st state and all, so I'm a-thinking that those damn Wiccans need a crushing, they're getting way too uppity! Who's with me? Holy War! Fight! Fight!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My wife gives me an allowance, the government just takes :)

You get an allowance?!  You don't need a "wayward son" do ya? ;)

I dunno, how are you at dragging 150' of 3/4" cable, wouldn't be so
bad but the wench sometimes doesn't want to let go of it and
sometimes it's straight up the side of a mountain. :)

I need a helicopter :)

Terry, I know you're kidding, but just to be sure that everyone understands the context, I was pointing out to cafehonda that there are other religions, besides Christianity,  that proselytize and whose members often vote based upon religious convictions.  cafehonda's statements indicate that he loathes Southern evangelists for those reasons.  Thus, would he not loathe members of other religions who espouse the same practices?

KK asked for a reference for a statement I made (Islam is spreading faster than Christianity in the US), and I provided data.

Please, please, understand:  I am not bating a discussion about religion.  I am merely trying to point out what I see as inconsistencies in an insulting post made by cafehonda.

Perhaps this thread should be closed.  ???  ???  ???

Even if this thread is deleted, the derogatory comments will just resurface later, in a different thread, against some other group.

Perhaps if anyone just really wants to debase a group, they should be sure that the chosen group is not well represented in the forums.....Terry may be on to something with the Wiccans ;)

Well there, I have gone and done it again. So let's say it here and now: I respect the right for anyone to say anything they want about me and anything I say. I will defend myself in any way I feel is fit and necessary, and I expect others to do the same. I come here to spout and vent like many of the others here. I keep spouting and venting to the open forum area of this site. I often make statements here as I do in real life that offend the sensibilities of others. My opinions are my own and I expect that to be understood. I do not wish, nor do I expect many others to agree with me, but I do not try to be contrary for the sake of being so. Almost everything I say in the open forum is intended as quite tongue in cheek and in the spirit of humor, or at the very least to encourage the continuation of dialogue. I make errors in judgement, but not always the one's that others perceive. I tend to get enthusiastic while typing, as I do love the sound of my own prose. I have noticed that others enjoy their own word too. ;) I do not wish to be a detriment to this site, deliberately defame any individual, or incite unrest among members.
I don't apologize, as I try to measure myself before speaking. I don't believe in superstitions, ghosts angels or deities. I don't think our culture is furthered by suggesting that equal value be given to all beliefs. I don't like religion and despise those who suggest that I am somehow ignorant of a fundamental truth for which there is little evidence and even less proof. I rail against the manipulation of my world by those that would have me do it their way but would never see fit to do it mine. I don't wish to change minds, but will gladly change mine given sufficient evidence/ persuasion. I love mankind but not many of it's individuals. I try daily to be a better person and fail often.
The only reason I have said these thing is to perhaps give a little context to who I think I am. Since few on this site know me personally, maybe this will help give a framework within which others may judge me more accurately.
    P.S. I need a hug and a drink...oh, I guess I just need a hug now. ;D

Damn Cafehonda,
I just read your whole long spiel about whatever you were talkin about and all I can remember is I need a drink!! I don't want to read it again, so I'm going to get another drink.
By the way, I have a brother in law and another good friend that are going to iraq in a couple weeks to defend our sorry ass's freedom! If anyone wants to discuss Islam religion and why they want to kill Americans because WE believe in Jesus Christ, Please do it somewhere else.

Starting to sound like Rsnip988, wanting to hug and stuff ;)

I was born and raised in the South and love it here.  I'm not inbred, not really a Christian in any sense of the word, don't drink Coors, and I'm not ignorant or mentally challenged.  I tried for years to practice good grammar and to get away from my Southern accent, to appear more "sophisticated" or "smart".  I stopped doing that about 4 years ago when I realized that changing myself so that others would like me was an idiotic idea.  That, and the other intelligent Southerners here, is the only evidence I can point toward which decries the myth that all Southerners are bible-thumpers or inbred or stupid.

The drinks are on me, but I hate Coors, so how about a Bud Light?  Maybe a Holy Grail Ale?   ;D 8)

Hey Cafehonda, much better explanation.
I consider myself a Christian but despise religion. I don't know where that
would put me in this debate.

One thing we differ big time on is, I pretty much think mankind stinks,
but, rarely meet an individual I don't like. This may be a southern thing too!

Dunno mate, I never tried it myself, I think it's for "Export Only" to countries like the US and Britain who's domestic beer is considered "unfit for human consumption" among folk with an IQ larger than their shoe size?

I did buy a carton of Fosters recently though, a work mate gave me his car for free, so here in Oz, when someone gives you a car for free you pay them back with a "slab", (24 cans) and I expected he would ask for VB (recognised internationally as the greatest beer in the free world) but instead, he asked for Fosters?

Hmmnn.............. I never saw him drink it though, so I guess he musta had another "deal" going with someone in the US or Britain?  :-\

  :-\

Actually mate only kids and Chavs drink lager in England. We've got what is probably the best beer in the world - draught bitter - unfiltered, unpasteurised and drawn from the cask by a hand pump not forced out by pressurised C02.
Sorry to wax lyrical but it's a living beer , still maturing in the pub cellar where its needs a few days on stillage before it's ready to serve. It's similar to what some USA craft breweries produce but here there's large brewers like Timothy Taylors, Batemans, Hydes etc etc turning out 1000's of gallons each week. As far as I'm concerned draught Batemans XXXB or Taylors Landlord is about as good as beer gets.
It's hard for people in other countries to judge the quality of the best English beers because it's meant to be served from the barrel as I described and isn't exported in that way. The bottled versions that are exported, good though some of them are, just aren't the same, most of them having been filtered and pasteurised, killing off the best flavours.
Better choice here for lager drinkers too lots of imported German and Czech stuff - real Budweiser(Budvar) from the Czech republic is an excellent pint and then there's Ostrava another Czech beer which is probably the best lager in the world....

And the moral of this tale Terry is "don't criticise from ignorance" - though you may have a point where British brewed lagers are concerned , they're crap but then so are Castlemain, Fosters and Coopers...........

When I visited the US the best canned beer I found in the supermarkets there was one I'd never heard of and which isn't exported to here - Miller , it tasted like a half decent German Pilsner so different to Bud etc.

Just a fyi, But times are tough around here (west kansas) and a friend of mine told me the other night he went to the liquer store, waited for the store to be empty and bought a 12 pack of milwaukee's best LIGHT and he said it was actually pretty good. I went to the store later in the week and ALMOST BOUGHT SOME but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Plus miller lite is only $5 more for a 30 pack.

I don't think the Chinese are particularly dangerous an dthey're certainly not an agressive nation. Their industries are are very vibrant and growing an dit won't be long befaore thir economy is the largest in the world, These days it's the size of a countries eceonomy which leads to super power status. Before the Berlin wall fell there were two super powers yet the economy of the USSR was much smaller than that of the US. Under the Communist regime they had equal superpower status to the US because they were more militarily competent. Since they've become a " free market economy" they haven't been able to finance their military very well so have fallen behind. In theory the Russinas still have better planes, subs and man for man  better fighting soldiers but they can't afford to maintain and supply them very well.....
