WOW! What a gold mine of information
« on: January 24, 2016, 07:41:12 AM »
In December I staggered onto a 1981 CB650 Custom in unmolested stock trim. I grabbed it for $700. The bike came with a new windshield and a very nice luggage rack/backrest and a nice trunk. Currently it is scattered all over my garage and I am surprised that it has never been tampered with or modified in any way. Everything seems to be solid and in decent shape so it looks like 95% of my work will be elbow grease. I have ordered many of the rubber bits, seals and just finished complete rebuilds on the master cylinder, calipers and carbs. I plan on keeping it stock except for the stainless brake lines. It appears as though a previous owner has taken very good care if it. The guy I bought it from parked it outside by the fence in this photo and never rode it once. All he did was buy the windshield. He only had it a few months when I spied it sitting there and rescued it. I like these old Hondas and rescued a 1978 400 Hawk a few years back. I recently sold the Hawk when a good old boy offered me stupid money for it in the Walmart parking lot. This site is great and I have learned a lot about these bikes and also about where and how to find what I need to get them on the road. Thanks fellas and keep the good stuff coming.
