Waiting on parts, watching paint dry on parts and still cleaning parts. Well, the air box is ready when I get to that point.

Mounted the front wheel temporarily just to get it out of the way.

Looking somewhat like a motorcycle.

Can't do anything until the new clutch cable arrives. Wish I would of put it in the first order. The whole rear end is waiting on a $11.00 part.  ::)

Getting ready to remove the right cover. Hope everything is marked correctly. Not familiar with this setup.

Rear wheel is ready to go.

Right side of motor looks very good. I'll probably remove the clutch and meausure the plates, order new springs.

Worked on the right cover. Still some deep marks from a bent brake pedal. Not sure if I'll go any further with it. I have a new ignition cover so I didn't bother sanding it. Looks pretty good as is.

tt,
That helps that you have the bike up on the lift w/ easy to remove(I found anytime I put a socket extension on a hand impact driver it 'dulls' the action of the tool) airbox/batterybox,fender,etc. to get behind those stubborn screws !
I wonder if you have one of those #3 Vessel 'impacta' screwdrivers from RRtool? I just got one of those from Gordon along w/ my set and I sure am enjoying it  ;)

I bought this on line but it's a 1/2 driver. To big really. My neighbor said its for locomotive work.  ;D

Glad he could help. I had to hit it from the rear tire. He held it against the screws and I from the rear. Defiantly getting SS cap screws coated with anti seize.

No word on carburetors but everything will be new from the head back. Carburetor boot O rings, air cleaner boots and all clamps. Wish I could find the boots themselves. Some in the Netherlands at 78 euros shipped. $89.00 US.

No, the carb mounts on the head to replace the O rings. Carbs have been in for rebuild better than three weeks ago.  ;)

Ordered some mirror adapters, 10 to 8 mm then dug out a spare set of Ducati mirrors. Stock ones are awful, just awful.

Cleaned up the instruments and replaced the bulbs in the gear indicator. Sanding the rear fender for a coat of paint next then get that finished up.

Ordered a new shifter arm from the UK. Mine was bent from a previous tip over. More waiting. GS forum member is sending me some chrome cam covers and screws. Will see how that looks.

You don't want to keep using the black cam covers w/ the fins?? They identify it as an 82-83' model. The chrome ones make it look like 'an older model'...  :D

I think I would like it with the chromed or polished covers like TT has on the way. The black ones pull the eye below the tank and it doesn't have good continuity.
There wasn't other black components anywhere near it and I doubt the black was anything but cosmetic...Seems they would be more at home on a totally black motor.

Are you having the exhaust pipes Ceramic Coated with silver or black?  Or will they remain chromed?  Or Wes Cooley style of flat black.  The flat black have the ease of being able to touch up every couple years without many issues.

Good work on the bike, she's coming together nicely.

I hope you like the way she handles and goes when she's all back together. You can always upgrade the handling a bit with some new components such as shocks and front fork mods if they need it.

The Ducati mirrors look good on the handlebars.

Hope your weather has been good.

Have you had the Ducati out for some fun?

Chrome is possible, not in stone. Free parts is always a good thing.

The exhaust can not be ceramic coated due to rust so that's off the shelf. I either have to go with what it is or sand and paint. Not sure how long paint would last. I could wrap the exhaust down to the muffler also. I read somewhere that barbecue grill works better than high heat paint.

Another alternative is a MAC 2 into 1 exhaust for around $300 in black. Would have to get into jetting, trial and error stuff. Not sure whether I want the hassle. Center stand stop is on the left side, exhaust out the right. I have an email into them with questions as they show a long bracket in the kit.

Mirrors will probably look better when the bike is somewhat back together I.E. Tank and gauges. Looking for a small fly screen also. Many models had a small fairing which you can source however the mounting hardware is as rare as hens teeth.

Not much riding at all. Family stuff.

I've had a few painted exhausts, I'd repaint when it would start looking a little bad, maybe once a year?

This isnt a daily rider nor will it be out in the weather, so paint is not a bad option for you. I'd use the VHT with ceramic.

PLEASE dont wrap it!

A little more progress. Air cleaner installed, wiring routed.

Battery box installed with new strap and end cover. Little hard to see.

Rainy weekend so no painting on the rear fender. Sure enjoying the rain however.
