1975 Honda CB400F- Title Question
« on: April 29, 2016, 11:10:52 AM »
Hi- brand new here and have a question on re-titling my old bike.

Here's the situation.  I grew up in Illinois and bought and rode my '75 cb440f during college.  It quit running at some point and it ended up in my parent's barn for the next 23 years.  In the meantime I moved to Michigan and have now been here for 18 years.  When my mom sold our old house a couple years ago I went and picked up the bike and now it's in my garage and I'm getting ready to start a restoration.

So- as I'm beginning this process it occurred to me that I have no idea where the title is.  The bike still has an Illinois plate with a tag that expired in 1992 but that's it.  Do I need to apply for a replacement title in Illinois and then transfer it here, or can I get it titled in Michigan without reference to it's previous home?

Any help and/or links to where this info is would be much appreciated!

In PA you would have to apply for a duplicate title, that cost$50 here.  Should be the same in any state and since it was in your name the process should be smooth...Larry
