O-rings for "3-way" Connector on Keihin Carb
« on: December 13, 2015, 02:04:52 PM »
I'm rebuilding the carbs on my '76 K6 and am trying to find the correct replacement o-rings for the "3-way' fuel connectors. The carbs are original to the bike (stamped 086A - ANH) . The "A" after the dash is enclosed in a square box.

There are two of these fuel connectors, 1 between carbs 1 and 2 and 1 between 3 and 4. There are 2 grooves on each side of the connector. The grooves in the "3-way" have a square cross section so I'm wondering if a square cross section ring is required? The diameter at the bottom of the groove measures 8mm and the width is about 2.5mm.

Here is a pic of the connector with one of the rings removed.

I'd appreciate any input on locating replacements.

They are included in the carb gasket set.

Hack a week just posted up his carb rebuild video and mentioned the size o-ring he used.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Nice!
Once you know the size (7.8x1.9) you can get them anywhere.

Someone on eBay was selling a set of 8 just for the fuel tees.

I just bought the carb kits listed above for the same reason. I should have them soon...

Check out Apple oring calculator. I sometimes go through this and order a pack of 50 for a few bucks:

I've seen OEM's charge 3-4 per oring. Markup is nuts!

I believe the great HondaMan said somewhere that 2x8mm o-rings work. I just ordered some from http://www.oringmonkey.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=2x8mm&x=14&y=10 They are en rout as we speak.

Although my bike is a CB500, I'd like to share my experience. On the CB500 you'll find a similar T-joint with two O-rings on either side. Maybe my bike is an exception, but on mine the O-rings still seal well after 40 years. Last year I had to replace the fuellines and those of you that have done this chore, know what a struggle it is to get the fuellines over the nipples of the T-joints. I had lost my temper and was really using violence to get them on. I was almost sure I had damaged the O-rings on T-joints in the process and that it (finally) would be my turn to replace them. With little hope I opened the petcock. Guess what, nothing leaked, nothing. You should have seen how wild I had moved the T-joints back-and-forth. Unbelievable. Honda did well by putting two O-rings on either side. So you may consider just to keep what you've got. You can simply test if they still seal and leave them where they are.
