What type of carbs?
« on: July 17, 2016, 07:16:10 PM »
Hello all,

Just trying to get a more accurate account of what model bike these carbs go on. They don't fit my CB500 (as I figured out the hard way). As far as I can tell it is a 350/400 (from what the manuals show) but I'm clueless on what year. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Someone else with more knowledge will chime in so be patient but the numbers look like PD46A. Think they came on...77/78 year range 550 bikes. Your 500 uses 627B model carbs but I think some have used O22A models (same body) but I have a set of both and couldn't get the O22A's to cooperate (although they fit fine).

PD46A is CB550K3 exclusively. CB500 had oldstyle Keihins 627B or 649A (the latter in some European countries only). Oldstyle Keihins 022A were on CB550K and CB550K1, Oldstyle 087A was on CB550K2. CB550F, CB55F1 and CB550F2 had oldstyle 069A. It looks like oldstyle Keihins are interchangeable. Jets, setting of needles and airscrews differ however.

Thanks folks! This is greatly helpful. My manual wasn't nearly this detailed as the information you have been able to provide. Thanks again.
