So I was quite carefully cleaning the float bowl and as soon as there was an pressure on the overflow tube (if that is what it is called) it broke at the base  :'(

Can this be repaired or replaced or do I need to scavenge a part from my other carb?

I'm 99.9% sure it was cracked and about to go. If you look at the pic of the base of the tube the brass has corrosion everywhere but a sliver that must have been holding it on.

Check ebay for salvage parts.

Can the tube be replaced or do I need to get a whole new float bowl?

New bowl is your best bet.  I have heard of these being soldered/brazed back in.  But that seems like a lot of work. You should be able to find a replacement bowl.

While you're at it - check for leaks with the bowls/overflows while they're off.  Could be more like that.

Quit breaking your bike! ;)

I have extras. Just a bummer. Had to rob from another carb. Gonna have to hit the used bike shop.
