Venolia piston info
« on: November 08, 2016, 07:53:06 PM »
Does anybody know what compression ratio this venolia piston is please? It is 65mm and has 237 cast in the underside of the piston. Also is this piston cast or forged?
It looks cast as the 237 is cast on it but just checking.

From looking at the top picture, theres a good deal of porosity in that piston which would make me think its cast, not forged. Forging generally yields far less porosity as a byproduct of the pressure. I could be wrong with my observation though...

I thought that at first, but my RC pistons had some side cutting around piston pin, these dont..but could be an early version.

How much would you want for the set of rings please? Are the rc rings the same width as the Venolia rings?

Depending on wear, you may have to bore another cylinder, and fit to these pistons..

The cylinder and 836 pistons looked as a good buy, but I have 2 good sets of 836 and a working cylinder. + new rings during shipping. Said to fit ART 836 as printed in my old Action Fours. My 2 sets of RC and 1 Action fours have same type of rings. Except my cast RC that had 1-piece oil rings. 3-piece oil rings from RC forged matched.

Same seller as the 836 shipped a valve cover old style to me, will be here today. Look like an old RC style cover with welded nuts for 8 bolts keeping cam holders in place.
