CB1100F or CB900FC speedo drive

Hi guys, I'm chasing a speedo drive to suit either a cb1100f or a cb900FC, must be for the 18 inch front wheel..... Preferably from the boomerang comstar wheels, must be to suit 18 inch wheel....

I believe the CB900C was a 110-90-19 Comstar front wheel and I may have a drive yet I would have to search for it. I have restored about 6 of the CB900C's and none used an 18" front wheel.

Thanks but a 19 is no good, I need one from an 18 inch front wheel, the 900Fc is the fourth model of the first generation CB900F Boldor, the first 3 models {FZ,FA, FB} had 19 inch front wheels too, the CB1100F and the CB900Fc both had 18 inch front wheels, I have one without the speedo drive...... I probably should add that it is a boomerang comstar, not the early star shape type....

The CX650E and CX 650Turbo used those boomerang comstars too, just not too sure of the front wheel sizing, I will check as I have one slated for restoration next spring.
Just checked and both of the above bikes have the 18" front wheel, so they should also be a source for the speedo drive. I do have some extra parts I got with the CX650E and will check on a front wheel drive, although I don't recall anything like that it was mostly calipers and engine cases etc.

Ok here is what I found in the parts bin for the 1983 CX650E that uses the boomerang 18 inch DID wheel. This bike wasn't sold in the US but the CX650T (turbo) was and they are the same bike less the turbo.
I dont know what the speedo drive should look like for your particular application so hopefully you do and I have enclosed some pictures of it for reference. The hole for the axel is 15mm in this one and the part that mounts into the wheel opening is 40mm.

Thanks for the pics, and for looking. I'm using 41mm forks off a later model Honda with a larger axle so I have to make it fit, I'll drag the wheel out in the morning {Aus time} and check the wheel mount diameter, it looks different than the 900 honda drive, I'll let you know... ;)

I looked up the part numbers and pics too on CMSL and the CB1100F drive looks like this one although a slightly different part number and the CB900FC has a different style of cable mounting screw from the side rather than the end and a different number too. Some of the number difference is the bike model being different will make part of the number different, so the axel size and mounting hole are really the deciding factors.This is Honda part # 44800-MC7-003 for the CX650E.

I should have just looked up front axle sizes to start with, I have a 20mm front axle, I assumed that anything with a 20mm axle would have 17 inch rims, so I decided that i'd have to bore out the center of the drive to make it work, turns out that the VT1100 C
Shadow 87-96 has a 20mm axle with an 18 inch front wheel, it may still need some minor mods to make it fit but it has to be a better option, Thanks for all your help, without your measurements I would have probably bought something I can't use. Sorry if I've waisted your time....

Never a waste of time my friend that is what these forums are all about is one hobbist helping another. I have boxes of parts that came with different projects and will probably never get used at least in the near future, so if someone else can make do with them everyone benefits.

Glad to have helped and for me I now have a little better idea of what I have in those two bins. :)
