350F rear tyre close to brake stop
« on: December 19, 2016, 03:55:28 PM »
Hi All - greetings from Australia.

New to the forum after purchasing a 72 CB350F project.

The bike has a Bridgestone accolade 4.0 fitted, and seems to be running very close to the brake stop.

Is this common for the 350F rear wheel? Alignment is spot on the markers and the swingarm appears to measure the same height from ground level.

There is some movement in the swingarm (bushes on their way to rebuild and hoping the collar is fine), but it's all as one.

Thoughts?

It looks like you may have the collars reversed. The brake side one is about 32mm long, longer than it is wide. Yours looks about equal? The sprocket side one goes through the 9.5mm thick seal, about 15mm sticks past the bearing retainer. That makes it roughly 25mm total length.
The tire should be pretty much centered in the fork. I have a 100mm (2.4mm shy of 4 inches) and it isn't super close to anything. Mine is a 400, but I think the wheel etc. and rear fork are the same.

Thanks Bodi, will take some measurements tonight and check on the collar widths.

Did some measurements tonight - on the LHS, 21mm from inner swingarm edge to the black ring. On the RHS, 40mm from inner swingarm edge to the brake cover ridge. Is this normal?

See attached image to show measure points.

here is my 400 four..if you use big tires..i think ,you must bend the arm a bit...think i use 3,5 heidenau tire..and have 10 mm free Space...so think a 4,0 tire can just be there vith 3-5 mm air...

mine thain side collar ..looks a bit shorter then yours
