1972 CB500 Front Axle

Question:

How tight do you tighten the front axle?  If I tighten it too much it affects the speedometer assembly.

Also... does the speedo assembly need to be greased?

Very tight and yes to grease.
If tightening it is affecting the speedo drive something is assembled wrong
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

pull it back off and align the two tangs properly. I use a small screwdriver to top up the grease beneath the seal
