Government foul-ups
« on: January 26, 2017, 05:47:09 PM »
"You have been randomly selected to have your driver's license expire before the normal 6 year period in order to ensure a smooth transition to ....."

God Blessed jerks. >:(

There's more
"Even though your license expires sooner, you still have to pay the full amount to renew..." >:(

Don't know what Washington's doing with the licenses, but some sort of new driver's license program (or something?).  All I know is that I can do all this by mail - so it's not like I have to endure the joy of standing in line at the DOL.
They expired me 2 years earlier than it should have been.

Every 4 here in PA too.
They changed it so that it now expires on your birthday, not the end of your birth month - like I grew up with, not at all manufactured confusion to grab extra fine revenue.

In Arizona they are valid until you are 65  :o you just have to go in to update the photo once every 12 years!
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

I hope they don't force me to renew.  Not after all the cash I paid em for my mc permits and endorsement classes!  I couldn't afford their bureaucratic bs right now  >:(

You sure that isn't some phishing scam to try to get your information? How does renewing your license NOT involve going to the DMV?
That does not make sense to me and tingles me spidey senses.

Not an 'early' renewal like eigen is subject to, but I did renew mine online back in 2013.
4 year expiration and the same photo as on my 2009 license. (WA State)

No phishing here.  Washington State does pretty much everything through the mail or online.  We vote by mail, renew our tabs by mail, get our driver's licenses by mail.  The only thing we don't do by mail is emission testing - and that is scheduled to be phased out in the next few years because they don't see a need for it.  Modern cars flat out don't work when the emissions are off.

Here in Virginia, we have this new thing when you enter a highway, equipment is set up to "see" your emissions as you speed by, capturing your tag number, and then notifying you by mail.  Not too reliable, and if you have an older car, you're not eligible.

Has anyone tried farting on the sensor to see what happens?

4 years here in MI.  If no moving violations you can renew by mail for another 4 years.
