I have some Supernova turn signals I'm wiring up.  I also have an m-flash (flasher) that I purchased from the guys at Revival.  Got everything tentatively wired.  I'before I button things up, Do I need resistors or anything else?  I am also running  small LEDs for the idiot lights.  And, my gauges (speedhut) are lit by LEDs.  Supernovas site is vague and does not have a definitive answer.  I think I'm good with the gauges.

I am on the fence as whether to run the turn signals as running lights as well

Anybody running this stuff?

If your turn indicator on the dash is one bulb, for both signals, you do need diodes between the indicator and each signal. Otherwise voltage bleed will cause Lt and Rt signals to illuminate simultaneously.

It is.  Any idea what type of diode?   If I eliminated that light, I wouldn't need a diode?

A few things for clarity:  1970 CB750.  Using original harness and switches.  I treated all 4 turn signals as 2-wire (no running light)   Single idiot light for the signals (like the original). Using factory schematic.

Would I need resistors for the signals ?  Or am I overthinking this.

I don't recall off the top of my head, but it's listed in the Motogadget user's manual. I can look it up after work.
Correct, if you eliminate the indicator, you wouldn't need it. But it's a simple and inexpensive mod, just a couple bucks.

Since the wires from the turn signal & idiot light go to the same connector in the headlight bucket, I'd just need to put a diode on the wire from the idiot light, correct? X2

1N4001 diodes. Amazon, etc.
I diode between each turn signal and the single indicator.

I didn't see him state he's using the M-Unit, but I'm running on fumes after only 3 hours of sleep.

Greenjeans, to clarify, splice between your turn signals and the idiot light.
You asked if it's between the headlight bucket and the light. If you have your two wires (one from each signal) going to a single connector in the bucket, then to the idiot light, by one wire, splice into the wires connecting the signals to the connector.

A diode is a one-way check valve. You'll want to ohm out your diode before installing, to ensure its facing the correct direction!

Yep - not using the M-unit.   Stock harness.  The m-flash only has 2 wires vs 3 like typical flash relays.   Digging up some instructions for that now

Not sure if I'm following correctly - ignore me if I muddy the waters - but I think this is what you might need:

Here's what I have.  Replacing stock flasher with tiny m-flashed unit.  It only has 2 wires.  I guess it grounds through the signals?    The blk from the m-flash would connect to the gray wire in harness and red would go to black 12v+ ?

Then, I would put my diodes just before the orange & lt blue wires hit the idiot light correct ?

Seem right?

Wait!  Aren't the flashers on these 2-wire????  The schematics show 3 but I'm thinking they are only 2???

I believe you're correct.  That's how it looks to me as well.  Overthinking as usual.

All this trouble and extra costs only to end up with indicators that draw less attention and so are less safe.

Yeah, but at least it keeps him from stealing hub caps with his spare time. Silver lining in every cloud, Grumpy.
Haha.
I bet my 1/2" Motogadget M-Blaze LED turn signals are WAY brighter and more noticeable than your 3" factory signals.

It is not about brightness, it's about glowing on and off which gives the human brain information something is changing and our brain is designed to detect changes happening and not so much changes that have happened whilst you blinked your eye. If I'm not mistaking carmaker Audi is the first to notice this shortcoming of led and is adressing it by more than one led that light one after the other: good solution. I do not see you arranging multiple leds like that on your bike.

Great theory, but when my SUPER bright LED flashes on and off X times a minute, that's enough "change" for any normal brain to detect.
Come into the 21st century, no OEM uses incandescent anymore.

my SUPER bright
Happy as a child aren't you? How about someone like you in front of you at night with SUPER? Anyway, I've put my experience with led brakelights here before and it doesn't surprise me that now you'll find led brakelights that overcome this typical shortcoming of led by flashing a couple of times before they stay on (see I'm not the only one?), this in a much higher frequency than your indicators btw. Make no mistake: I'm not a purist, but when I replace something on my bike by something more modern, it has to be better in every aspect, not better in one aspect and worse in another.

Well, all I can say is these are noticeably brighter than a stock lamp.   I'm off to get some diodes.
Thanks guys

Many thanks, those diodes did the trick.  Radio Shack  shack even had some in stock!
