Do not put a 'R'.
Nowadays the only thing it stands for is 'R'icer.
No.

M- gotta say, if you can get past the electrics, Fiats are raucous little cars.  What did you do to the suspension on that? It looks lower.

Tell you what Uncle Ernie, be glad that Matchless is out of business or you would be looking for a lawyer now....  ;D

There was a spanish company in the fifties named Pegaso who made trucks -lorries for the brits-, and even some sport cars. It was a big effort in a devastated country, and with banned imports, Pegaso trucks transported everything in this country and became part of our culture. They were out of business a couple of decades ago and the company got bought by IVECO, though just a few more Pegaso trucks were made, although with "badge engineering"

The logo of the brand was the mythical Pegasus horse

to the surprise of some of the brand lovers and collectors, a german tuner (www.carlsson.de( for Mercedes cars adopted this logo....

the spaniards contacted the german brand asking about the logo copy. The brand owner got very interested, he said they paid an advertising company to design the logo. He didn't know about Pegaso trucks or buses. At the end, he asked what the spaniards wanted and in the name of who did they speak. They didn't represent the brand nor have any rights about it, and Carlsson's lawyers said "it is different enough not to be considered a copy". So the germans are still using the same horse as logo.

At least they tried to satisfy the upset spaniards. Had it been a chinese company, that copy everything completely unashamed, and they would have not even replied...

UE, it's lowered as much as I can for my class. The only way to go lower is move the suspension
pickup points which I can't in the class I run. #500 front springs #200 rears, 1" sway bar front,
adjustable panhard rod rear with adjustable spring buckets on the rear for weight jacking.

I've never had much trouble with electrics on Fiat cars, nothing like what I hear about the British ones :)

Hmmm... didn't Pegaso make motorcycles?  For some reason I thought they made some pretty good thumpers a ways back.
Mr M, I don't have a huge amount of fiat experience, but I seem to remember that Italian wiring wasn't always the best, at least in the older models.  Older Guzzis had their problems with things like switches. I guess that might be said of a lot of older machines, though.

and even if it couldn't be said when they were new... all of them are so old now anyway that switches are dieing off right and left :-\

Hey Raul, that's a blast from the past for me :)

One of my former employers had a Pegaso sports car. Lovely thing it was, had a fantastic little flat plane V8 in it 8) Handled really well, but had Italianesque electrics ::)

There you fellows go again, dissin the Italian electrics.
They are no worse than any other electrics, try to straighten out a
BMW water temp gauge sometime you'll see :)

Personally I think the Italians had a lot of improvements over american electrics.
All the wires had easily accessible plugs,
plus grounding blocks which the wires plugged to.
Generally an Italian wiring problem is just a ground (after 30 years they need cleaning) :)

Glad you brought this, because I didn't even want to mention. With about 100 or so sports car produced, the Pegaso sports car were very far ahead of their time, and much more in a country recovering for a civil war with banned imports.

If you want to read a very brief history of the Pegaso cars (one page, in english and with pictures) click this link

Sorry about the thread hijack, but for one real outstanding car ever made in Spain I couldn't afford not to dwell into it....

Raul, that is a great looking car too! Thanks for being a co-conspirator in this hi-jack :)

I do hope that Tom will offer his decal as a 750 R too!

The "R" in a small circle following a name usually indicates this is a registered trade mark.

Raul,

The earliest version of a logo featuring pegasus, that I recall, is from standard oil.....now many years down the road exxonmobile.

Use of the winged pegasus logo by the various incarnations of the oil company date to the 19th century. As in pre 1900  ;D

Funny thing, when I searched for a Pegaso logo to put in this thread, I came to a miriad of different logos as it seems there has been thousands of companies or products named Pegasus. Nevertheless, there are also a thousand ways to draw a winged horse without copying a previous design....
