It's not a sprint. It's a marathon.
Patience, perseverance, persistence. Some say that passion belongs associated, as well. But, I find that plodding also plays a part toward having a machine that can't refuse to operate as desired.
I can tell you that I have stepped back (different than walking away) many times with stubborn problems. Sometimes, it gives you a chance to reformulate a more effective action plan. Sometimes I awake in the morning and say "well, of course". And, walk out and fix the problem. The subconscious mind works even while you sleep.
Some puzzles are harder to put together than others. But, isn't a hobby's primary purpose is to waste time in a interesting way and even learn new things?
