That's why I am concerned about abrasion resistance. Regular old denim goes bye-bye as quick as skin does. My touring pants I wear for everyday riding don't look too casual a look a little spaceman-y. That's why I was asking if the newer armored riding jeans offered better abrasion resistance than the older ones and would equal a decent pair of nylon armored pants. I don't want to learn the hard way that my money spent was not much better than a regular pair of denim jeans.

Ran into that problem when helping the ladies find their riding gear.
It's a poorly served market.  Sure they're cute "clothes", but for some reason the ladies gear was LESS protective than the mens.  Often the jeans and synthetic alike would have nothing for knee and hip armor.  Any kevlar was confined to the seat and hips.  Occassionally there would be some by the knee.
Fortunately, we recieved a tip about Go-go kevlar leggings.  Which came in a full range of sizes for ALL women.  Which was fully integrated with aramid fiber and knee pads.  For $150.  Which was $50-100 less than the average price of womens riding pants.

Women with their curves we love are more likely to be off a bike on a laydown as a passenger.  Passenger deaths are much higher than riders...  more reason to get your girl/spouse to ride and be the driver rather than passenger.

To get mine to do that, I'll have to spring for the gateway drug -- a scooter for her to get comfortable riding.

Get her at least a super cub or something with decent-sized wheels. Those scooters with their small wheels are dangerous.

Get her the Kymco Super Cub look alike, well built, very capable and good resale numbers.  Kymco made motor parts for honda for decades...they know how to build good stuff.

Kymco Symba is the model, could not think of it before...  90cc and good brakes and capable of 55mph.  She could always go the Burgman and Silverwing maxi scooters if she does not want to go the route of a conventional cycle when she moves up.  They are convienent/functional if not so attractive.

Apparently fish skin has helped burn victims and road rash victims heal. I believe it was common Tilapia as well.

Here's the article from Reuters...
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-brazil-burns/brazilian-doctors-use-fish-skin-to-treat-burn-victims-idUSKBN18L1WH

A better article with photos of a burn victim with the fish skin and afterwards...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4033254/Doctors-using-FISH-SKIN-treat-burn-victims-pioneering-new-treatment-heal-wounds.html

Pretty cool experiment with lots of promise.

The pain of a severe burn is quite intense.  Morphine sometimes can only dull it.

in the past I've had the best of both worlds for pants, Kevlar lining on front/sides of upper legs and arse (spelled it the Australian way) with dual layer foam crash pads on knees and hips. Kevlar offers no impact protection at all but will last a lot longer sliding than denim (and cheap fashion quality leather for that matter, which is what a lot of girls gear is made of) but the bits you generally impact on are the knees and hips.

incidentally knee sliders, which some folk I've heard refer to as crash protection) are just as bad as nothing as they are so solid they transfer all the impact straight through to your lovely delicate kneecap

I only wear jackets with full back/shoulder/elbow protection as well as preferably codura (rip-proof) or heavy leather construction. most stuff is now affordable and no longer looks as ugly as a hatful or ar$eholes (and yes mr bmw from the early 90s, i'm looking at you on both counts there)I picked up a cordura jacket at a clearance shop for $25 a couple of weeks ago.

my gloves all have minimum flexible plastic or carbon knuckle and finger protection, as well as double leather thickness on palms etc and again are a lot more affordable than they were a few years ago.

all of this is only personal preference but after years of wearing rubbish want to see what happens when you fall off wearing a suit....) and suffering the scars/breaks, I won't compromise any more
i blame Terry

I found Fortnine's videos on youtube to be helpful when looking up gear to wear.

Dukie, get jeans made of Kevlar or similar...many will have removeable knee, hip, etc. armor, so ride in safety and when you want to look "normal"/be comfortable just pull the armor out...#$%* is not cheap though.  I need to get me some good riding pants myself.
If it works good, it looks good...

Check out Hood motorcycle jeans. Excellent quality with extensive kevlar coverage and great sizing options.
