1970 CD175 *UPDATE*
« on: August 15, 2013, 02:39:20 am »
That's right a CD not a CB. My son ran across this and emailed me some pics. Don't know much about this model, think it was made only for a few years. It has a 4 speed trans and just a single carb. Looks to be all original and he says pipes are solid and it runs 8) Anybody know much about this model?

I had a 76. Ride it till it stops  :) Good MPG that's all the positive I have for them. You can thrash them till they overheat and stop. Then let it cool down and off you go again.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Had one of these years ago. Great bike, bulletproof and full of character with those deep-valance guards. Never seen a black one though - mostly red or metallic blue over here.

Thought the guy my son bought the bike from was the original owner, but not the case. Title shows he had it since 1991.

Just brought me back to a CZ175 my brother gave me when I was 14 or15. Same big fenders, heavy. Still I was excited, managed to get it running after a bit sans battery. Put Bultaco handle bars and knobbies on it and beat it to death for a couple of years. The kickstarter was the shifter! Talk about horribly clunky shifting! I was young and had a blast though! bob

Looks really complete and nice. Can't believe he got it for 100 bucks, really really great deal.  I remember a thread when your Son was out on a power call of some kind and there were a couple of bikes in an old shed he took some pictures of,maybe a 350 possibly ??  He ever track down the owner of that old little building and snag them ?

Great little survivor bike. I had an SL175 and my dad liked it so much he bought himself an old CB175 to go with it.

I had same year and color SL175 back in the day. Right after turning 16 it was my transportation back and forth to high school and took it off road on the weekends. Great little bike it was.

I think the bike was a CB350 a 71 model maybe, No he never was able to get back and check it out. He has changed jobs since than and has moved to Plant City, FL but came in for Thanksgiving for his moms cooking ;D

Got a chance to look at this bike a little more. Don't know much history on this little guy. My son is the 3rd owner I think. He ran across it at a friend of a friends garage 4 years ago and wasn't able to get back and pick it up until a few weeks ago.
The good: The bike is original and all there the best I can tell and engine is free and turns over easy. Oil looks clean. Side cover plastic in good shape no cracks or broke tabs. The black paint is faded but fenders and tank are ok. Wiring untouched not butchered. Air cleaner all there. Tires are fairly new. Front is flat needs tube I think. Tank side panels in fair shape. Chrome has light surface rust but should clean up with old fashion elbow grease.
The not so good: Inside of tank needs attention and cleaning out. The Works toilet bowl cleaner will take care of that. Been sitting for at least 4 years so throttle is stuck Im sure the single carb is gummed up. My son says he has heard it run ;)  The seat foam is hard and has rip across seat. At first glance 302 pipes look ok but bottoms are rotted out. Plan is just to clean out tank, clean carb, change oil, get new battery and I think she'll fire up and run.

I originally thought this was a 70 model but it could be a 1969 I think 8) Anybody knows

Thanks Gus. I bet your right should be a fun bike. It's all there. I've never done a complete restore on any of my bikes. Just fix and replace what needs to be so it will be safe to ride and give a good cleaning and I'm done 8) I talked about this a while back in another thread but I've got to get a shop (heated) so I'll have some room to work and and stay warm in winter.

Nice score!
That recessed ignition with the keys is worth a few bucks for sure.
