not exactly a chainsaw but a Swedish partner 94cc concrete saw has gotta come close?a mate picked it off a kerbside pile with a free sign next to it all,he text me come get it,i told him if I can get it going ill sell it and get beer money for us both(what else?),anyway I checked for spark all good, tipped out the old fuel, half filled the tank and dumped some down the carb, got it fired up after I unflooded it!,had a way fast idle I turned that down, its a #$%*ing beast!the place was several doors down from my mates place so I went for a look myself and picked up a cheapie little combination drop saw,a Ryobi blower with a snapped starter cord and a straight bench press bar, lotta other stuff there 9" angle grinder(which I hate)little wet saw for tiles and other tools I thought id leave for someone else.

That is sweet Dave, I've always wanted one of those with a cut off blade like the ones they use at the wreckers for chopping off panels? It's a pity you live so far away or I'd buy it! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

OOher, and off topic, (slightly) the engine is in the mower! I got sidetracked tonight with a sweet deal for an RC51 engine and some other uber-rare Honda race bike parts, so I didn't fire it up like I wanted to, but it should be up and running in the next couple of days, when the belt for the hydraulic drive arrives. ;D

vanguard twins are solid, put ngk plugs in it though!thats gonna be one over powered mower!,we got that saw on gumtree for $550 negotiable see how it goes, but this weekend another mate wants to cut some #$%*ing concrete with it so the add is paused,so I thought id check out the drive belt and idler bearing, the bearing was dry so greased it and the belt is fine, once my mate cuts with it ill feel better about selling it and not having a huge concreter bloke come stomping back after me for selling him a dud!

well my mate wants to cut up 12 metres plus of 100mm thick driveway with this saw tomorrow, hes no stranger to wet saws etc,we fiqured the blade was #$%* so he bought a new one, cheapest one was $79 you beaut aussie dollars so instead of buying the premium one at over $200 this will do much better than the old #$%* doesent even look like it has single micro diamond left on it!ill bet this old "partner" one is the original blade?if that's the case this saw aint done too much work,it fired straight up two pulls from cold this arvo showing my mate the choke and switches etc over a beer, hiring one for a day is $280!!he said keep the blade on it once hes done.

That is a sweet looking saw Dave! The guy who did my driveway had a big trolley mounted saw, but used a hand held one like that one to get into the tighter spaces, and it worked really well. I think I've got concrete saw envy! ;D

ha ha, ive got over powered mower envy Terry!using chainsaws is one thing but wet concrete saws sucks arse unless its for yourself!its dangerous noisey unfriendly #$%* at the best of times full stop!i love the motor on this thing though, its really responsive and torquey when you gun it,my mate will test it out on a fair dinkum job not just cut some random #$%*,im guessing he will run it 2 or 3 hours?sooner him than me!#$%* concrete give me timber anytime!

How many ccc's is it Dave? I had thoughts about using the 118cc engine from my big McCulloch saw for a motorised bicycle project before I discovered that the saw is worth a lot of money to collectors. Back in the day when chainsaws were great big two strokes I had a mate with a big Canadian chainsaw engine in a Minibike, and it was awesome! ;D

this is 94cc Terry,im sad to say though my mate started cutting and about half a tank used it started starving he tells me,he aint real mechanical but im thinking the carb just needs to be stripped and blown through,it was spinning like a top when we tried it out here fitting his new blade,he lives at tweed im on the gold coast so not exactly next door, hell either bring it over tomorrow or ill get it from him at work on Monday, poor #$%* was all geared up to get that concrete outta the way,im glad he tested it though before it got sold,i had visions of a big disgruntled concreter bloke throwing it through my front window if it didn't work properly!

Ha ha, yeah, that'd be a problem mate! Well at my end, my big mower is officially a goer! I was happy enough that the battery still holds a charge and easily turned over the big 23 HP engine, but was both surprised and 'rapt when the engine fired right up too! Never having driven a zero turn mower it took a minute or too to work out how to keep it going in a straight line, but I'm happy to report that everything works as it should.

It only has straight out pipes so I couldn't run it for too long, and it needs a longer throttle cable, so I need to do a little more ebaying, but so far it owes me less than 400 bucks, so I'm pretty happy. Just a pity that after a long dry summer I haven't got a blade of grass to cut, so I might have to wait until I've got some grass to cut before I flog it. ;D

Dave, before you yank the carb apart check the gas tank ventilation. In it's previous life someone could have done a bunch of dry cutting and gummed up the works. Also if the gas cap has one of those little duckbill vents, they can go hard and not work. I had s a small chain saw that was experiencing the same problem as yours.

loud pipes save lives terry!thanks jigger,i felt bad for my mate so went down and picked it up,as soon as I removed all the covers I found a perished fuel line, replaced that and four or five pulls on the cord and it goes as it should again!

That's great Dave, I've got a Stihl (I think) that I found in a dumpster (skip?) a few years back when my girlfriend was shutting down her hair salon, looked like it was used but once or twice but I couldn't get it to turn over, it's a project for another day.

Edit: turns out it was a Homelite 38cc model with the plastic shroud.

Nice pick up Dave, I sold my big 118cc McCulloch/Dolmar chainsaw a few months ago on Ebay, got close to $1800 for it! I could have taken 6 of them for free when I got mine, I wish I had now! ;D

Thanks Alan, I haven't seen another one on the road, they weren't as popular here as Toyota's back in the 90's, so I see about 100 Hilux's to every Triton. I'll have to check out that movie now. The Triton's were rebadged as Dodge Ram 50's, or Mitsubishi Mighty Max's in the US apparently. ;D

Good choice on the little 310 saw Steve. I have saws from 70cc on down, Stihls, old Homelites,Echo 590,490,400 and the 310. I usually grab that nice little and light 310 most of the time for my chores like cleaning up the latest ice storm this winter which I still have more to do. With a sharp chain that poor little saw can cut way beyond its means and its a joy to flick around. I've also tackled some pretty big stuff with it. The large saws are very jealous and kind of lonely.  ;D
