I have 3 of those locks, the top of your looks different which leads me to believe it is not for a 550 or 750 model years '75-78.
The top of yours has a recess where the key inserts, mine do not.

What does not fit?

Hope that helps...

Thanks... the circumference of the lock just seemsp too large to fit in the hole in the tank flap. The one that fits (ie the one in photo 4 that is on my original tank) has a notch in it (you can see it at the top of the photo) which marries up with the notch in the tank flap. There is no notch in the lock I have bought.. It simply appears to be too big for the hole. TBH, I think it’s the wrong lock, I could just do with a bit of reassurance from those in the know before I get back to the seller.
