Oil filter collar
« on: April 27, 2018, 08:59:53 PM »
Does anyone know the dimensions of the collar that goes between the filter and the case? Was going to just turn one on the lathe but have no dimensional reference.

Aaah!  Same here.  82 650.  I have a CAD sketch of the oil filter done up, but not on my computer here. I did it  during lunch at work.  If you can wait til monday, will get a detailed drawing done up and pass it along.  The bolt itself is 20.0mm and the length was about 26.  However cause I was using DOM steel for mine there, I made it a bit shorter to account for using a trimmed filter gasket to keep it isolated.

Impossible to find part.  Only one I could even find on ebay at the time was part of a whole oil filter housing set.

There is also a washer in between the spring and the filter, have that?  Also fortunately the filter is still made and sold by honda.  The honda kit also comes with all O-rings.  So the one for the bolt and main large o ring as well. I believe even the bolt is available.  I want to replace mine next time, valve is looking rusty and I worry it is siezed.

It is item six in the oil pan/filter parts diagram.

P/N 15414300000

Inexpensive part, only a couple dollars, and still available through honda if I remember correct.  I got a spare one if it isnt and would like the measurements.

Ha ha, quick question.  Do you have it off at the moment?  Joy of quick scribbles is I didnt think I would have to look at it again and thinking I might have made an error on mine.   Just seeing if you could verify dimensions for me.  I have two dimensions not noted.  What I need to figure it out is the length of the filter housing from inside spring seat to the large oring surface, (depth) and the distance from the inside bolt head flange to centre of  first hole.  Want to make sure I didnt mis-notr something and to ensure filter on my bike is seated correct :x
