Need seat options

 Good morning;

I need to find a new seat or seat pan. Mine is some sort of plastic and is cracked badly. Will any other years or models fit the 78 CB750k correctly? Does anyone have a source for a replacement seat pan or complete seat in excellent condition? Thanks!

 Unfortunately they don’t have a single seat for 78 CB 750 K.

I saw the new K8 seats from Vietnam, but not much else. Apperently the K8 is a unique year and styled differently from all others. Not sure about the quality of those other seats.

Yes, the 77 and 78 have different styled seats, but they can be used interchangeably.  In my opinion, the 77 seat is the better looking one.  It is flat and looks like the earlier year seats.  The 78 seat has a weird step in it so the back seat area is higher than the front.  I also found the 78 seat to be less comfortable on long rides.   My 2 cents

 I somehow missed some of these posts, and just saw them now. I emailed the guy with the craigslist ad, and I’m watching the eBay listing. Neither of those are 78 seat, but I think the seat pan is correct. Not sure if the one on craigslist is metal or not, so I asked him about it. If I can’t find a real 78 seat then using a 77 seat until I wear the cover out is good enough, and then I can just get it recovered with the correct pattern.

If all else fails, that other website had a metal seat pan down at the bottom of the page. Thanks guys!

The pan should be the same for the 77-78. I believe that any 750A seat should work too since that used a tank similar to the 77-78K bikes.

I ran into an old Corbin thread on here last night. They make one for a 78

I'm curious if it will fit a 74. The microfiche lists all the same parts for the seats for the 74 and 75, but I dont know if there are clearance or mounting issues. Anyone ever put a 75 seat on a 74?

That’s for an F model, not a K.

77 and 78 have hinges on the opposite side, so I assume not backward compatible.

I have oem used pan from 77/78 It will need new paint to look nice but it's solid. I also have original foam but can't recall condition. Let me know if you are interested and want some pics.

 I was able to determine what the correct 1978 seat is, found one listed as a 77 seat on eBay, and bought it for $150 in great condition. It’s missing the plunger lock and the hinges, but I’ve got that so all is well.  Maybe I’ll get lucky and find a manual hidden inside the door.
