I have the alternator and shifter covers off of my 750. I didn't realise that the alternator cover didn't have to come off to remove the starter. Before, when I had to replace them, I using gasket sealant. Is this really necessary to stop oil leaks? I ask, because there is a good possibility I will have to remove the starter again, and scraping the old gasket and sealant is a pain.....and it makes the covers harder to remove.
Now that I find that I can buy individual covers....rather than kits...maybe I should just buy more of these covers!
