750 friction plate orientation? /W PICS
« on: June 12, 2018, 09:13:16 AM »
We've been told that the steels and frictions are directional, and the sharp edges
should face the pressure plate. The steels are easy to see which edge is the sharp
edge. The frictions are more difficult to tell. I have some of what I think are Genuine Honda frictions. I can't see any sharp edge on one side or the other.
The plates are however, different in that the cut marks are not positioned the same
from side to side. I will post pics. I need to know if the position of the cuts mean anything, and if so, which side should be installed facing the pressure plate?
Pics to come..

edit.....notice that there are single cuts that are located so that they are pointing
directly at the plate's tab (lower pic). This is consistent for every tab on every plate on ONE side. The flip side of the plates have 2 cuts, one on each side of each tab. This is
consistent also. (top pic)Hoping this is making sense. :P

I did not flip the fibers in a specific way in my CB750 K6 except for the slanted outer that has wider ears( in that way I thought will get max grip since my engine has a lot of torque (1000cc). Metals discs, sharp edge inwards.
My K2 clutch fibers all the same, metals, sharp edges inwards.
