« on: January 13, 2007, 05:25:16 PM »
just wanted to let you guys into my life the past 4 months.... well i finished my second semester studying biomedical science and RMIT in melbourne OZ, and passed quite well if i do say so myself, and applied for Chiropractic college in NZ, well got accepted and now have a four year plan of study, and not havin a life, am sorta really happy, and excited and freakin out and well, just all over the shop, it didnt help that my missus's passport was stoilen the day b4 i had to fly out, so am over hre by myself, the F1 is now in storage in OZ for the next few years, but have already sorted a bike over here(did i mention i hadnt found a place to live yet!!!), so i wont have a terrible lot to say about SOHC's, but will still float around and chat....

Good luck to you in your ventures Ben and always look forward to hearing from you. I don't know if I could just lock my bike away for that amount of time but I guess it gives you something cool to look forward to when the time comes. (probably way better than a Christmas present). Take care man.

agree Scunny - Christchurch is great and would be my pick, but I guess cben has to go where the school is. You can't win them all.
Cben - good luck mate, and hope it all goes well. Remember, our gain is NZ's loss........ ;D

G'Day Ben, I just stumbled on this thread, so my apologies for not wishing you well earlier. Geez you've come a long way in the last couple of years mate, from a badly broken fitter and turner to an up-and-coming medical professional? Bloody well done! All the best mate, Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Just left a post, on Sam's thread, to you and then I came across this one. ::) Oh well, good to see that you have a ride to keep you in shape for the Ol' 750 ;D. A guy (or a gal) needs to keep that connection, ya know? ??? Glad things are well with you and all. You take care and I'll catch you later on. ;)                                    Bill :) ;)

hey thanx all, yeah am in the 7th week of study( or lack of it), and the going is getting pretty interesting.... there is soo much more to the chiropractic profession than i was aware of, and it looks at so many other causes for different things that may ail us in our everyday lives, but its also a great profession to seek out for greater everyday wellness....

am really ebjoying it so far, this is technically the second year of study, as you all know i did a year of biomedical science, but that was a 1st year intro course so i could get over here.

Just a question, and please dont shoot me for this but, what causes a front break to get sticky when it gets hot???, i have found that the XJR was really hard to push around after a ride, and got a mate of mine to sit on the back when the bike was on the centre stand, the front when wont turn properly!!!!, the breaks are stuck on, but if i leave them for a while, it becomes ok, i was wondering why i was gertting really bad fuel economy, and why the bike felt slugish!!!, if a 1200cc bike could feel sluggish.... now if it was the CB i would say that there was something in the return port of the master cyl, but m unsure of why it would do it on the 1200.

i dont have anywere to work on a bike here, and didnt expect to have any trouble, so this is a real pain. was thinking i might change the fluid and see if that helps, or maybe take the caliper off, and try to get the pistons outa little and put some rubber grease on the out side then push them back in and see if that helps.....  this XJR has a set of brembo front calipers, and ohlins suspension, so is a little special, i am hopeing that the calipers just need clean and a lube...

 Any suggestions?.

peace  thanx all...:) ;D

Sounds like you've got either a blocked bleeder hole in your MC, or  gungy calipers Ben, take the lid of your MC and (carefully) squeeze the lever, and you should see a squirt of fluid from the bleeder hole, if not you'll need to use a very fine wire or welding tip cleaner to  try to unblock it, but if it's clear, then try replacing and bleeding the fluid first, if that doesn't do it, you'll need to clean the insides of the calipers, and around the sides and backs of the pads, then pop the pistons out and give them and the piston seals a clean, (use a little fresh fluid to lubricate the pistons when you re-insert them) and all should be well. From everything I've read, the XJR1300 is an awesome bike! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
