Davenport, Iowa swap
« on: August 29, 2018, 04:28:18 PM »
The Chief Blackhawk swap meet at the Davenport, Iowa Fairgrounds is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Vintage dirt track races Friday night.  More info at the Chief Blackhawk web site.  Been going since the 70's and had loved every year.

I hope to be there with a bike or two, my buddies have a spot near the south east corner of the front lot, just north of the little chapel looking building. Looking for carbs for my old cb750 based drag bike.

I will try to stop at your spot.    My son-in-law and I are planning to go Friday.   What sort of carbs are you looking for?

Big carbs lol. I roamed the place today and checked the usual suspects. The little white building is the museum, my buddies are weird about selling something at their spot, fear of sales tax I'd guess. I'll try to be near there, red cb400f, 80 KZ1000, and maybe a k2 750. I saw David Silver today but he escaped.

Don, how did you meet David ? Or even know it was him? That's pretty cool imo.

I sold him two cb750's there last year, one was loaded with his parts. Seat, bars, 4/4 pipes, etc. he got a chuckle out of that. He wears a DSS shirt.

David didn't like my cb400F except his parts, lol. I did get there and saw several old friends. Didn't make a sale. The parts breakers were very nice to me when I rolled in. No sale this trip.

I heard an old flying merkel was offered for $200K, it went for an agreed price close to that and it will stay in the US.
