I have Cognito rearset brackets and tonight, I learned that the pivot bolt is to short. Now these brackets are similar to other brackets in how they mount to the bike.. They use the pivot bolt and engine bolts to mount to the frame. The issue is that the extra thickness of the brackets doesn't allow for the nut to thread on because the bolt is not long enough. The brackets are about 3/8" thick each. I am considering milling down where the bolt is on the bracket however unless I removed almost all the thickness, I don't think it will be enough any way
I'm sure others have had this issue and wondering what have been the solution.
1. Are there longer pivot bolts available? possibly from another yeah/model..
2. Should I get my stock pivot bolt lengthened at a machine shop?
And before anyone ask why I did not get Cognito's aluminium bracket, I chose the steel version because I felt their aluminium although beautiful, would not fit the look I am trying to achieve. I am trying to avoid a modern look on this bike. The rearset in the photo is not likely the one I will keep on the bike.
Thanks!
