Newbie from Central California
« on: October 30, 2018, 09:03:56 PM »
Hello everyone,

Just got my motorcycle license at the beginning of this year. In April, I found a '76 CB550K, from a guy in SF, that had been partially modified with a 4into1 exhaust and low handlebars. After riding it home, it stopped working after 2 weeks of not riding it.
So then I decided to learn how the engine worked so that I could do as much as I could myself. After learning how to do some maintenance thanks to YouTube and the SOHC4 community, I was able to start it up. Turned out it just needed new points since filing them didn't work. Then I took it to work and it left me on the road on the way back home. It would die on me every time I would drive about 3 or so miles (had to get it towed). This weekend I think I finally figured it out. I got a new foam air filter, replaced the spark plugs and got the plenum breather tube that I didn't know was missing.  After I derust the gas tank this weekend, I'll do a 40 mile long distance test and see how it goes.

Wish me luck!

Picture was taken while I was waiting for the tow truck the last time it left me on the road (took advantage of the sunset for a picture haha)
