New from Surrey, UK
« on: December 26, 2018, 02:06:35 PM »
Hi folks,

New to this forum and a more recent member of SHOC.uk on our side of the pond, but I'm not new to CB750s.  In the mid-late 70s I owned a 72 registered K1 which I met and courted my now wife on. Until a week or so ago I owned a 76 Z900 and a 93 CBR900RR-P FireBlade, and still do.  However, both my wife (Bev) and I have hankered after a K1 for a while (she hates the FireBlade with a vengeance!); maybe to recapture some of our youth.  So, under Bev's prompt, I started looking for a decent K1 and have just bought a US spec 71 K1 'survivor' with 20,648 miles on the clock from a fellow UK forum member.  It was imported from Wisconsin in 2010.

Here's a few photos, including me on my K1 in 1977 - I haven't change a bit........ ;D

Where it all started:

After being imported in 2010 - anyone know the bike?

Its needs some TLC as it been off the road for 3 years:

The clean-up started just before Christmas:

Thanks for the welcome - been flicking through the various forums/threads and together with the SOHC.UK I'm hoping to pick the brains of the experts during my K1's recommission and thereafter having something to contribute.

In the meantime, I've been putting some hours into the K1 today giving it a degrease and polish prior to (hopefully) starting it when the new oil, filter etc arrives in a few days.  It's not been started for 3 years and fuel was left in the tank which has caused internal rust, so a remote 1lt tank will be the order of the day.

Fingers crossed!

Cheers

Welcome from Wisconsin and what a nice looking K1!  Just curoius, what's hiding under the red and black car cover - looks like it could be interesting!

It's my 72 TR6, I've owned TRs since 1983.
