1972 CB500, pull throttle cable is too long?

1972 cb500 four the pull throttle cable which is the only one I'm running it's too long. I can back the throttle up a little bit and the cable will actually lift up off of the guide that's a carburetor this is with the adjustments all the way out I've tried two different cables with the same result any ideas?

Yup!

Fit the other cable as it takes out the play
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I'll order one and give it a try. It works fine the way it is just knowing that it could possibly slip off the bothers me.
