CB550 Main Jet Holder Question

Helping my nephew refurbish a 76 CB550.  Disassembled the carbs and found this in the #2. 



Appears its purpose is to retain the main jet.  My question is, should all of the carbs have this holder? From the boogered screw heads we are not the first to open the carbs.

Not really a 550 guy...but I am pretty sure that there are supposed to be one in each carb.  Otherwise, the tightness of the o-ring is the only thing keeping the main jet from falling into the bottom of the bowl.

There is supposed to be one in each carb because the main jet is a press-fit. There is a thread here where a guy used a spring in place of that part, if you don't want to have to buy 3.

That is what I suspected.  If we can't find the three he needs will consider using a spring.  Thanks!
