I had a blue 69' just like it  8) bought it used from a dealer in CT. for $40 back in the early 70's  :)
I fixed it all up,installed parts that were removed(it was a recovered stolen bike and the owners didn't want to pay the dealer to make it complete again)and then rode that little bike all over N. Stamford,CT. with no license or registration..  :D
Yeah baby...the good old days. ;D

Very cool old Honda
It seems you don’t see near as many survivors of other brands, I guess it’s just the shear numbers of bikes they have produced.

Thanks all for reading along.

Changed the front tire/tube today.  Front brake got a new cable as well.  One of the many falls had bent the headlight ring.  Was able to use small dead blow hammer to get it close to round.  The wires connecting the headlight to the harness had become frayed and the ends were missing.  Replaced the ends and cleaned the headlight contacts.  Started the bike and the headlight works now, both brake levers light the brake light.  Next electrical gremlin will be the tail light.

Bike has been shifting rather hard into first gear.  Alas the bike did not like it when I  reduced the idle speed and died.  Increased the speed on the idle but still not starting.    :(  Will try again another day.

Well decided to order a new spark plug and the air filter.  Installed them yesterday but could not get the bike to start.  Went out today, drained the gas from the carb and tried again.  No go so pulled the plug and verified spark, squirted starting fluid down the spark plug hole and still nothing.  Full throttle no choke, full throttle choke.  full throttle and partial choke.  The last one eventually got a bark.  Switched to partial throttle and kept on kicking until things warmed up enough to stay running.  Turned the choke off and adjusted both the air and throttle screws.

My guess is that the carb was set too rich.  Initial runs were without an air filter so adding a filter made it more rich again.  When it stops raining tomorrow or Tuesday, will see if it will start with choke on and allow the choke to be open after a minute.

Maybe get/borrow a compression gauge with a 10mm plug end adapter after you run it(valve clearance ok?)next time and it's warm,I'm curious what it will yield.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

Thanks for the suggestion.  Did check valve clearances already but don't have a compression tester.  Borrow or buy?  It may be time to add one to the toolbox.

Bike sat for 4 days.  Went out and turned on the gas and the choke.  Started on first kick.   ;D

Time to work on the tail light.

Replaced the half burned out bulb with a LED bulb.  Now have both tail and brake lights.   :)

I would like to add led turn signals.  Does anyone have recommendations for a 6 volt system?

Thanks,
