Complex-PTSD is a byproduct of abuse, abandonment, neglect (physical and/or emotional) and is often suffered by those under the thumb of a pathological narcissist. Hence the lesser known term; Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome.
Gaslighting is a known narcissists weapon of choice for abuse. The ego-destroying potential of this abusive method should never be underestimated. Taken to extremes, gaslighting can drive the abusers target to commit crimes and/or suicide.
