Got a new cell phone and needed a memory card for it for pics & music, etc.  I ordered one from Tiger Direct for about 1/2 price retail and all was right in the world.  Tonight, as I'm reading the manual (please don't take away my "Man card"), I see that I have order the "mini-sd" as opposed to the "micro-sd" card.  C R A P !!! I get online to see the order status and I am relieved to see that the order has not shipped.  I immediately jump on the phone to get hold of custumer service to cancel order and re-order the correct format card.

... here I sit at 56 minutes on hold... no music... no nothing but the same three messages telling me how important I am as a customer... how hold times are 'longer' due to the holidays... and that my call will be answered by the next available representative...

I have read every joke on the SOHC4 forum... I have even caught up on my email... here I sit... getting PISSED... 1 HOUR now...

All this for $40!  I should just eat the $$ but now its the principal of the matter... 1 HOUR and 10 minutes... THIS IS F--KING RIDICULOUS...

...due to the "holiday rush" (on January 29th) hold times are longer than usual... WTF! Perhaps they're busy changing their outgoing phone messages...

I've ordered from these folks before and always have had good luck; however, this is just PLUM F--KING NUTS!

...guess this is what I get for being a dumbass and ordering the wrong card...

1 HOUR and 20 MINUTES ON HOLD... <SOBS>

what holiday?  that was over and done with almost a month ago?

you should find the loudspeaker on your cellphone... it makes these moments go by so much quicker when you don't have to hold the phone to your ear.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
I hate being on hold almost as much as I hate Illinois Nazi's! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ha ha, actually, (and not to correct you Fred) COL Klink was a Luftwaffe (Air Farce, so probably gay) officer, and made a point of not being a Nazi, I remember a couple of episodes where he made this distinction quite clearly. I've met several old ex-SS members both here and in Europe, and they were scary old bastards, for sure! (How's that for a thread hijack?) ;D

"I see nothing"! Ha ha, I just did a little research, and amazingly, both John Banner (Schultz) and Werner Klemperer (Klink) were jews who'd spent time in Nazi concentration camps, and when Banner escaped to the US, he played several roles as a nazi in American propoganda movies. Sadly he was playing these roles as his family was being murdered in his native Austria, they all perished in concentration camps. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Badda-bing! It says something for 'technology', 'advancement', 'customer service' etc, etc when the person you speak to about a product or service cannot understand what you are saying!

So I'm proud to be able to say that one of the biggest employers in my home town is a call centre, handling, among other things, Amercan Express. And they all speak English!!

PS. And don't you just love it when you phone a customer help desk, get through to a human being, and they ask if you will 'hold' then put you on hold without waiting for you you reply! I always either just say "No" or that I am phoning long distance. That usually wakes them up.

Of course, it can work for you too, I get flooded with calls from "Tele-Marketers" trying to sell me everything from new cell phones to better home loans, so when they call I just say, "Hold the line please" and let 'em hang off the end of my phone until they eventually hang up, I dunno why, but I enjoy it more than just hanging up on them? Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. :)

Were this not the SOHC board, I'd wonder how in the heck we got from a bad memory card to Col. Klink.  But if you want to be wily Col. Hogan, here's a site that has a cheat codes for IVR (Integrated Voice Response) systems (listed by company, etc.):

gethuman.com <==IVR Cheat Sheet

Click on "Database" at the top to get a listing of companies and the secret key sequence to get put straight through to a human type of person.

Also, if you want to waste some time, but really have fun, you can turn the tables on the telemarketer:

Telemarketer Counter Script

Telemarketers use scripts.  Why not use your own?  Does your telemarketer have good dental coverage?  Even if you won't use the Telemarketer Counter Script, check it out.  It's a hoot.

ACK!  Don't go to the link they mention at the end of the clip if you're at work (or at all if you can help it  :-X)  Other than that it's an extremely work-friendly video  :D

Oh, by the way, I "resolved" the problem by hanging up and re-ordering the correct memory card.  I still saved $ by ordering it online instead of going to the local retail.  My wallet and my ego are the only things suffering from this instance.

Incidentally, I recieved an email from them last night stating that they see that the problem has "been resolved" by one of their CSRs and blah, blah, blah... I kindly sent my reply that I was the one who resolved my error and I was uncertain as to what f#%kin' report they were referencing.

I left my phone # with them... Think they'll call me back?   ::) ...maybe I can put them on hold for a bit...

Here ya' go Terry...

I believe Terry is a fellow Blues Brothers fan ;D

(A patrolling officer passes the Bluesmobile)

Jake: Hey, what's going on?
Officer: Ah, those bums won their courtcase so they're marching today.
Jake: What bums?
Officer: The #$%*ing nazi party.
Elwood: Illinios nazis...
Jake: I hate Illinios nazis.
Head nazi: Heil Hitler!
Nazis: Heil Hitler!

(Elwood drives the car up to the bridge, towards the nazis)

Head nazi: Tenhuit!

(Elwood speeds up, the nazis jump away from the Bluesmobile, into the water)

Nazis jumping into the water

Head nazi: Gruppenfuhrer?
Gruppenfuhrer: Yes sir?
Head nazi: Gruppenfuhrer, get that cars license plate number. We're gonna kill that son of a #$%*.
