Sprocket sizes - front and rear?
« on: October 13, 2019, 09:41:14 AM »
Could someone kindly advise me on sprocket sizes. I'm running the Nova c/r gear cluster (see photo). This is a pure race bike with an expected 85 - 90 RWBHP. I realise I'll need several sizes but I have to get one made to align the chain, etc. Will be running a 130 rear tyre so chain clearance won't be a problem. (Its a Peckett & McNab frame, incidentally). Thanks in advance.

A lot will depend on your motor-carb tune and overall weight.............and short-technical tracks vs. longer where speed is needed. I would begin with a 16 x 48 set and work on getting off of the start-line to stay with the supposed leading competition.

Your countershaft, in top gear, will be turning 3% slower than stock. Probably 16 & 17T fronts and 44-46-48T rears depending on your track lengths as Old Scrambler mentioned.
