1972 cb 350 can chain damper

This is my first 350f top end rebuild. As I was removing the cam chain I noticed that the lower damper was in between the cam chain and the slipper. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Not unusual. It's easy to mess that up, it's barely visible on a bare engine and extremely hard to see in frame. It just sits in the case and tends to pop up with the slipper.
